Bronte in context
Bronte is two places that happen to share a name. South of the QEW it is a lakefront village with a working harbour, a compact main street on Lakeshore Road West, and a shoreline that draws people from across the region. North of the QEW it is a strip of older industrial land along Wyecroft and Speers Roads that has quietly become one of the most valuable redevelopment corridors in Halton, because it sits next to a GO station.
That second Bronte is the one changing fastest. In August 2026 Council rezoned 2172 Wyecroft Road, directly beside Bronte GO, from industrial to urban core mixed use, permitting four towers of up to 24 storeys and roughly 1,191 homes. It is the clearest signal yet of what the Bronte GO station area study is likely to produce for the rest of the corridor.
In the village itself the pressure is different and more familiar: mid-rise proposals on Lakeshore Road West and Bronte Road that trade off harbour views, parking and the scale of the existing street. The Town keeps a dedicated page for Bronte-area construction management plans, which is a fair signal of how much simultaneous building the village is absorbing.

- 2172 Wyecroft Road: rezoned in August 2026 for four towers of 21 and 24 storeys, about 1,191 homes, 2,550 square metres of retail and a 1,355 square metre daycare, beside Bronte GO Station.
- Graywood Bronte Village at 2365 to 2377 Lakeshore Road West, and Belyea Development at 2311, 2319 and 2323 Belyea Street.
- Bronte River Limited Partnership at 1300, 1316, 1326, 1342 and 1350 Bronte Road, with the related zoning and subdivision approvals already granted.
- The Town maintains construction management plans for four active Bronte-area sites: 2370 Lakeshore Road West, 2375 Lakeshore Road West, 77 East Street and 85 Bronte Road.
- Recently approved site plans include 576 Bronte Road and the Costco site on Wyecroft Road.
