History

Glendella House. The building was originally Thompson’s Hotel built by Ned Thompson around 1845 and served as a stagecoach stop on the Old Lake Road. Subsequently the building served as a grocery store, candy shop, post office and in the 1900s a summer hotel. It was named “Glendella” in 1887.

Heritage attributes

Frame 2 1/2 storey structure with steeply hipped roof. Dormers and an addition on the back were added at a later date. The verandah with its wrought iron embellishments and decorative bracket mouldings is noteworthy.
