How long can you park on the street in Oakville?
Three hours, unless a sign says otherwise or you hold a permit. The Town's by-laws do not allow permanent on-street parking anywhere in Oakville.

Summary
On any Oakville street you can park for three hours at most, and not between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. (year-round north of Dundas Street, November 15 to April 15 south of it). A free courtesy permit lifts both limits for up to 15 days a year. Downtown lots are free from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Can you park overnight on the street?
Not without a permit. Parking is prohibited from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. at all times on every street north of Dundas Street, and from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. between November 15 and April 15 on every street south of Dundas Street.
Even where overnight parking is allowed in summer south of Dundas, the three-hour limit still applies.
Where is parking banned even without a sign?
Within 1 metre of a driveway, 3 metres of a fire hydrant, 10 metres of an intersection, on or overhanging a sidewalk, on a boulevard, or facing the wrong way.
How do I get a parking exemption for a visitor?
Request a free Courtesy Temporary On-Street Parking Permit online. It lets a vehicle park longer than three hours or between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., for up to 15 days per vehicle per year. Sign in to your Town account or continue as a guest, choose Parking and Enforcement, then Courtesy Temporary On-Street Parking Permit.

What if I need more than 15 days?
South of Dundas Street, a paid on-street permit costs $6 a day or $55 for 30 days, and the vehicle must still move at least every 24 hours. North of Dundas, the New Communities were planned for overnight on-street parking by permit at $55 a month; the Town publishes a map of the eligible areas.
Downtown, Kerr Village and Bronte
Is downtown Oakville parking free on Sundays and after 6 p.m.?
In the municipal lots, paid parking runs 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Saturday, so lots are free on Sundays and holidays and from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. every night. Metered street spaces are also free after 6 p.m. and all day on Sundays and statutory holidays. The Church Street garage charges at all times.
Free ends at 2 a.m. Staying in a lot from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. needs a one-night pass ($6 on HonkMobile) or a 30-night pass ($55).
What do the downtown lots and garage cost?
Most downtown lots are $2 an hour with a five- or nine-hour maximum; the smaller lots off Lakeshore are $1.25 an hour. The Church Street garage is $2.50 an hour, with a $7 evening maximum from 6 p.m., $15 for a weekday, $5 on Sundays and holidays and $35 for a full day. Metered core streets are $2.50 an hour for up to three hours, with 20-minute quick-stop spaces at 50 cents.
How do I pay?
With the HonkMobile app, by text to 75498, or at a pay-by-plate machine. The Town says the QR-code stickers on parking machines are never used to collect payment, so treat any QR code asking for payment as a scam.
Can I park downtown monthly?
Yes. Monthly permits are $141.25 in the Church Street garage, $79.10 in lots 2, 3, 6 and 8, $39.55 in lots 10, 11B, 14 and F, $45.20 in the Kerr Village lot 12, and $39.55 in Bronte on Ontario Street. Overnight downtown permits cover lots 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 15 and 16 but not the Water Street lots.

How do I pay a parking ticket?
Online at oakville.aimsparking.com/tickets with Visa, Mastercard or American Express, by the QR code on the ticket, or by mail. Pay within 15 days to avoid added fees: after 15 days a $12 plate-search fee, after 45 days an $18 late fee, after 105 days a $22 plate-denial fee.
How do I dispute a parking ticket?
Request a screening review within 15 days of the ticket. Screenings are done by email. If you disagree with the screening decision you can request a hearing within 15 days of it, held by video. Missing a screening costs $50 and missing a hearing $100. The Town does not cancel valid tickets.
How much is a ticket?
Penalty amounts are set per offence in the Town's 2026 Municipal Enforcement parking rates and fees schedule, and ticketing runs under an administrative penalty system rather than provincial offences court.
