A review of one pocket of housing near Dundas Street East and Prince Michael Drive, which would move back into the Joshua Creek Public School boundary.

Boundaries for two new north Oakville elementary schools, approved in January 2024 and being phased in over several years.

Phased from the 2024/25 school year. The Oakville NE #5 PS boundary is to be implemented for 2027/28.

Temporary redirections

The board can suspend or reinstate one without a review, so a suspended redirection is not a closed file.

Forest Trail PS to Sunningdale PS

New registrations in part of the Forest Trail boundary go to Sunningdale instead, until the Northwest Oakville review concludes.

Enrolment at Forest Trail Public School rose substantially after the Oakville NE #3 and #5 review concluded in January 2024. The board says the school now has eight portables on site and very limited space for further growth.

New registrations within the Forest Trail boundary north of Dundas Street between Neyagawa Boulevard and Sixth Line are directed to Sunningdale Public School, effective 1 February 2026, a date chosen to align with the French Immersion application cut-off. The board provides transportation to Sunningdale under its usual eligibility guidelines.

Students already enrolled are not affected. The board describes this as a bridge until the Northwest Oakville Elementary Boundary Review, which now carries an explicit mandate to address the pressure at Forest Trail, reaches a decision.

Dr. David R. Williams PS to Palermo PS

Suspended, but explicitly reinstatable: the board says it returns if the enrolment or classroom cap is reached again.

This redirection began on 11 April 2023, once Dr. David R. Williams Public School reached an enrolment and classroom cap. It was suspended in February 2024 in anticipation of the Oakville NE #3 and #5 boundary changes taking effect.

The board's most recent update, dated 14 January 2025, keeps it suspended and notes that the opening of Oakville NE #5 PS has been delayed to the 2027/28 school year, when that school's boundary will be implemented.

The same update states the cap has been reached at 1,172 students or 51 classrooms, and that if enrolment or classroom capacity is reached, the redirection to Palermo Public School will be reinstated. A suspended redirection is not a closed file.

Falgarwood PS to Dr. David R. Williams PS

A kindergarten redirection from nine zones, suspended once Harvest Oak Public School opened.

Junior and senior kindergarten registrations in zones R through Z were directed to Dr. David R. Williams Public School while Falgarwood Public School was at capacity.

The board suspended it on 12 August 2025, when Harvest Oak Public School was scheduled to open that September and the Option 7 boundary from the Oakville NE #3 and #5 review took effect for the 2025/26 school year.

The board states that if capacity at Falgarwood Public School is reached again, a redirection will be considered and may be reinstated.

North Oakville secondary redirection to T.A. Blakelock HS

A phased redirection of north Oakville secondary students, suspended in 2024 and superseded in practice by the approved Oakville NE #1 boundary.

Enrolment growth at White Oaks Secondary School, driven by the North Oakville Secondary Plan area north of Dundas Street, led the board to phase a redirection to T.A. Blakelock High School from September 2022, intended to last until the new Oakville NE #1 HS opened.

The board suspended it on 30 October 2024, and states it may be reinstated if White Oaks Secondary School sees significant growth again.

The affected communities north of Dundas Street were the English programme at River Oaks, Falgarwood and Palermo public schools, and the French Immersion programme at Munn's, Sunningdale and Palermo public schools.

What happens in a boundary review

Where a review sits tells you whether input is still possible.

    Trustees direct a review

    A motion at a board meeting starts the process and names the review area. The motion and its board report number are public.

  2. 02

    A steering committee forms

    Trustees, senior administration and planning staff confirm the process, the schools involved and the initial options.

  3. 03

    The pathway is chosen

    A full review creates a Boundary Review Committee with parent representatives. A lighter Pathway 2 review does not, and goes straight to a public information session.

  4. 04

    Options go public

    Options, usually including a status quo, are published and taken to a virtual public information session with a feedback form.

  5. 05

    Trustees vote

    The board approves a final option, often with multi-year phasing, legacy exemptions for existing students and transportation commitments.

  6. 06

    Implementation

    Changes take effect at the start of a school year, usually at least a year after the decision, and can be amended if enrolment moves.
