Special provisions, holding symbols and growth areas

A special provision (sp) changes the zone’s rules for that site; a holding symbol (H) keeps development from proceeding until the Town lifts it. Both are set out in the by-law, which is the only place their terms are written.

What the zone permits

The permitted uses, setbacks, lot coverage and heights for CU are set out in Institutional and community zones (Part 11) of Zoning By-law 2014-014. OakvilleIQ does not paraphrase them: a site-specific special provision, a holding symbol or a later amendment can change what applies to one lot, and only the Town’s zoning certificate is binding.
