Context
Palermo in context
Palermo was a crossroads village before Oakville was a town, and for most of the twentieth century it stayed one. Its recent history is the opposite: it now sits at the intersection of two growth pressures, the Palermo Village growth area at Dundas and Bronte Road, and the subdivision build-out of the Palermo West lands to the south of Dundas and the North Oakville West lands to the north.
The Town's Palermo Village Growth Area Review is the file that will decide how much of the crossroads becomes a mid-rise centre. Around it, the active applications on Dundas Street West are a mix of retirement and long-term care, seniors housing and mixed-use blocks, which is a fair reflection of who is actually moving into northwest Oakville.
Transit here is a genuine constraint, and Oakville Transit has treated it as one. The Palermo West and Bronte Creek area is served by a Ride On-Demand zone rather than fixed routes, and that zone gained Bronte GO Station as a destination in July 2026 and the Highway 407 and Bronte Road Park and Ride in September 2026, which completed its connection to every GO bus operating in Oakville.

Palermo Public School is the Halton District elementary school at the crossroads, and École secondaire catholique and École intermédiaire catholique Sainte-Trinité, French-language Catholic schools, are on Grand Oak Trail.

Parks and amenities
- Palermo Park, 2345 Dundas Street West, is the Town community park that carries the area's name. It falls in the Town's Sixteen Hollow community, so it is not among the Palermo parks counted on this page.
- Bronte Creek Provincial Park lies to the southwest of the area.
- Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, 3070 Neyagawa Boulevard, is the nearest large Town sports facility.
- The Bronte Creek valley system forms the western edge of the area.
Getting around
- The Palermo West and Bronte Creek Ride On-Demand zone gained Bronte GO Station as a destination in July 2026.
