What’s next: Council meets November 9, 2026

The details

The short version

Oakville's municipal election is on Monday, October 26, and the Town says the new term of Council begins on November 16. Its public meetings calendar already shows what follows. Council is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber on November 16, November 30 and December 14. Planning and Development Council, where public hearings on development applications are heard, is listed for December 7 and January 18. The calendar shows no Council meeting in January 2027.

These dates are what the Town's eSCRIBE calendar showed on October 21. The calendar's feed lists sixteen scheduled meetings from October 28 through January 21, 2027 and nothing after that, so February meetings, including any budget meetings, have not been posted. Meetings can be added, moved or cancelled, and the calendar is the source to trust over any summary.

The Town describes the Committee of Adjustment as an independent group of citizens, appointed by Council under the Planning Act, that decides minor variances and land severances without Council's involvement. Heritage Oakville reviews planning and development applications for heritage properties and forwards its recommendations to Planning and Development Council for the final decision.

The 2027 budget has not yet reached the calendar. The Town has said the budget timeline is designed to line up with the Council transition and give the newly elected Council a chance to provide input before the budget is finalized, and its budget direction report points to Council deciding it in early 2027. OakvilleIQ's budget page tracks that decision.

How to watch

Council meetings are live-streamed. The Town's Live Stream page says the stream begins about five minutes before the meeting starts, and that all Town video is hosted on the Town's YouTube channel. Council meeting videos stay available for the current term and one previous term; for anything older, the Town says to contact the Clerk's department. Each meeting on the eSCRIBE calendar also carries its own live-stream link.

How to speak or send comments

Anyone can take part in open Council and committee meetings. The Town offers three routes. Written comments go by email to townclerk@oakville.ca, naming the meeting date and the agenda item number. To speak, complete the Town's online Delegation Request Form or contact the Clerk at townclerk@oakville.ca or 905-815-6015. Pre-registered delegates can speak in person or join a virtual meeting; they receive access codes and instructions, are asked to test their audio and video, and are encouraged to log in 30 minutes early.

Where agendas and minutes post

Agendas and minutes live on the Town's Agendas & Meetings page, which embeds the eSCRIBE calendar; the Town says they are available from 2010 to the present. As of October 21 the only agenda linked on the calendar is for the Committee of Adjustment hearing on October 28. The Town refers readers to its Procedure By-law for the rules on calling and holding meetings and giving public notice of them.
