What is changing in Iroquois Ridge

We have not yet published a story specific to Iroquois Ridge. The Oakville-wide coverage below applies here, and the sections that follow set out what the public record currently says about the area.

Context

Iroquois Ridge in context

Iroquois Ridge is organised around a single unusually good piece of public infrastructure: a combined community centre, library branch and high school campus on Glenashton Drive, sharing a site and a parking lot. It is the model Oakville has used repeatedly since, and the reason the area functions as a centre for a much larger part of north Oakville than its own housing stock would justify.

The housing itself is late-1990s and 2000s subdivision, largely complete, with the remaining change happening on the arterials. The Town files applications for this part of town under Ward 6, and the active files there are concentrated on North Service Road East, Iroquois Shore Road and Eighth Line rather than inside the residential blocks.

The area is also a useful marker of how fast north Oakville filled in. The ridge it is named for is the old Lake Iroquois shoreline; two generations ago the land above it was farmland.

Development

What is in the pipeline

  1. CEFA Early Learning at 1030 Eighth Line and Suncor Energy at 350 Iroquois Shore Road carry active site plan applications.
  2. Questerra Developments at 1565 North Service Road East is on the same Ward 6 list.
  3. Most activity in this part of town is on the arterial and employment edges rather than inside the residential blocks.

The Town files active development and site plan applications by ward. For Iroquois Ridge, start with Ward 6 on the Town’s active applications page. A ward is not the same shape as a neighbourhood; it is where the Town keeps the file.
