History

Glencare Farmhouse. Associated with the Biggar Family, an early settler family and prominent farmin family. Albert and Harriet Biggar constructed the house in 1898 and named the farm Glencare Farm. The Biggar family owned the farm until 1985.

Heritage attributes

The house is a representative example of a Queen Anne Revival house. The two-storey irregular plan house has a hipped roof, bay window projection, decorative terra-cotta brick cladding and rusticated stone sills and lintels. Historically, the house had additional Queen Anne elements, including a full-width wooden porch with elaborate details.
