History

The property has cultural heritage value for its connected barn, a representative example of a historic timber frame barn. The property is associated with the McDuffe and Biggar families, early settlers of Trafalgar Township. The connected barn yields information that contributes to the understanding of Trafalgar Township in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Heritage attributes

The timber frame barn has an L-shaped plan and features a combination of re-used timbers, active motise and tenon joinery, adze marks and sawn or milled timbers. The building is clad in board and batten wood cladding and has a rusticated or 'rock face' conrete block foundation. There are remnants of a wagon lift and a timber cathead and track lift.
