History

McCraney-Robertson House. Associated with William McCraney, a prominent historical figure in Oakville who was the Mayor of Oakville from 1872 to 1874. The property is also linked to various local industries, including the Marlatt and Armstrong Leather Company. Many of these workers, including Duncan Robertson, were residents at the subject house.

Heritage attributes

Vernacular 1 1/2 storey stucco house typical of modest housing built at the time for local tradespeople. Notable features include the side porch with decorative brackets, front gable roof, wood windows, wood doors, wood trim. Designation also includes the magnolia tree, estimated to have been planted in the 1920s.
