The details
What is happening
The Town of Oakville announced on October 8 that its annual fall loose leaf collection will run from Monday, October 26 to Friday, December 4, 2026. Crews collect piles of loose leaves from the boulevard or road shoulder in designated neighbourhoods, zone by zone, on a fixed weekly rotation. The Town publishes a collection tracker, updated daily during leafing operations, that shows which streets have been done and which zone an address is in.
- Zones 1, 2, 3 and 7
- Zones 4, 5, 6 and 8
- Zones 1, 2, 3 and 7
- Zones 4, 5, 6 and 8
- Zone A
- Zones B and C
- Zones 1, 2, 3 and 7
- Zones 4, 5, 6 and 8
This year some zone schedules overlap in November. The Town says the overlap gives its Roads and Works department room to keep the program on schedule if weather causes delays.
Which zone you are in
The numbered zones cover neighbourhoods south of Upper Middle Road. Zones 1, 2 and 3 run from the Bronte and Burloak areas east to Trafalgar Road, south of Speers Road and Rebecca Street to the lake; zones 4, 5 and 6 run from Trafalgar Road east to Winston Churchill Boulevard, south of Cornwall Road to the lake; and zones 7 and 8 sit between the QEW and Upper Middle Road on either side of Eighth Line. The lettered zones cover other areas: Zone A between Dorval Drive and Fourteen Mile Creek from the QEW to Upper Middle Road, with some streets north of it; Zone B between Dundas Street and Upper Middle Road, from Glenashton and Bayshire drives to just west of Neyagawa Boulevard; and Zone C between Winston Churchill Boulevard and Ford Drive from Royal Windsor Drive to Upper Middle Road. The exact boundaries are on the Town's Loose Leaf Collection page and in its tracker.
Not every street is served. The Town offers bulk pickup in neighbourhoods that are at least 25 years old and have many large mature trees, along with some streets backing onto mature woodlots, and reviews the service areas each year to add areas as they qualify.
How to set leaves out
- Collection can happen any day in your zone's scheduled week, so have leaves out by 7 a.m. on the first day of that week.
- Do not put leaves out more than seven days before your zone's week starts, so they do not blow around the street.
- Pile leaves on the boulevard or road shoulder — not over catch basins or storm drains, in bicycle lanes or in roadside ditches.
- Keep piles free of garbage, brush, branches, large twigs and stones. Contaminated piles, and leaves put out after the pickup dates, are not collected.
- Once a street has been collected, crews do not return until the next scheduled pickup.
Uncollected leaves are the homeowner's to remove, or to bag for Halton Region, which collects bagged leaves and yard waste on the same day as regular garbage pickup. That Regional service is separate from the Town's loose leaf program; collection days are available through 311 or Halton Region's website.
