Update, November 5: Oakville Transit says Route 14A, Lakeshore West, will be on detour on November 11 because of the parade closures, and its buses will not serve the stops on Reynolds Street during the detour. Its November 4 notice gives the road closure as 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., a longer window than the Town's 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; riders should allow for the transit times. Separately, the Bronte Legion's parade on Sunday, November 8 closes Lakeshore Road West and Jones Street in Bronte from 9 a.m. to noon.
The parade and the November 11 ceremonies
According to the Town's October 28 release, the Oakville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion's parade begins at Oakville Trafalgar Community Centre, 325 Reynolds Street, at 10:30 a.m. and goes to George's Square, where a ceremony follows. A separate ceremony at the Trafalgar Memorial in Memorial Park runs from 10:40 a.m. to noon the same day. The Town's Remembrance Day page gives the same times, and the road-closure notice is for the November 11 parade.
The Town says residents who cannot attend a ceremony in person can still take part by wearing a poppy or observing two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. on November 11.
New this year: commemorative banners
The same release describes a new Veterans Commemorative Banner Program, which the Town says it introduced this year with Royal Canadian Legion Branches 114 and 486. The first phase is 12 general commemorative banners with a Remembrance message and poppy design, installed near Oakville's three cenotaph and memorial locations. With the support of the Bronte Village, Kerr Village and Downtown Oakville business improvement areas, the Town says the program has expanded to 35 more remembrance banners in those communities and surrounding neighbourhoods.
A second phase will add customized banners recognizing Veterans with connections to the Oakville community. The Town says eligibility and application details will be available in early 2027.
