Oakville's new north-end high school now has a boundary — here is who it will serve from 2027
Halton's trustees approved Option 3 of the Oakville NE #1 HS boundary review on 5 May 2026, setting the English-track catchment for the new high school and changing T.A. Blakelock's French Immersion boundary. It takes effect in September 2027.
The details
What happened
At its meeting on 5 May 2026, the Halton District School Board approved Option 3 of the Oakville NE #1 HS Boundary Review. The decision sets the English-track attendance boundary for the board's new high school in north Oakville — referred to during planning as Oakville NE #1 HS — and includes a change to the T.A. Blakelock High School French Immersion boundary for the area south of Dundas Street. The board notified affected families the next day, on 6 May 2026.
Which schools are affected
The board's notice of approval lists the elementary schools whose students fall within the new high school's English-track boundary, and the schools affected by the French Immersion change.
- English track, new NE #1 HS boundary: Dr. David R. Williams PS, Harvest Oak PS, Oodenawi PS and Pine Grove PS, together with the areas north of Dundas Street at Falgarwood PS, River Oaks PS, Munn's PS, Sunningdale PS, Forest Trail PS and Palermo PS.
- French Immersion change: Heritage Glen PS, Pilgrim Wood PS, Forest Trail PS (FI students south of Dundas and east of Third Line), and T.A. Blakelock HS.
When it takes effect
The board says implementation begins with the 2027-2028 school year, when Oakville NE #1 HS opens in September 2027. Until then, students in the new boundary continue to hold at White Oaks Secondary School. An implementation committee is being formed; the board says families whose children are affected will be contacted in the months ahead with details of each student's transfer, along with transition supports.
Why it matters
A high-school boundary decides something families plan around for years: which school a child will attend, who they will go with, and how they will get there. This one draws the catchment for a brand-new school in a fast-growing part of Oakville, and it moves a set of French Immersion students at the same time — so for the households named above, September 2027 is already on the calendar.
