Halton's northwest Oakville elementary boundary review just got bigger
On 2 June 2026 HDSB trustees expanded the Northwest Oakville Elementary Boundary Review to include two more schools, a sign of the capacity pressure spreading across the area's elementary catchments.
What happened
At its 2 June 2026 meeting the Halton District School Board expanded the Northwest Oakville Elementary Boundary Review, adding Sunningdale Public School and Dr. David R. Williams to the schools in the study area. The board's page for the review is marked with a 2 June 2026 update.
A boundary review decides which homes are assigned to which school. Expanding the study area partway through means the board has concluded the pressure it is trying to relieve reaches further than the review first assumed.

Why it matters
Northwest Oakville is one of the fastest-growing parts of town, and new subdivisions arrive faster than school capacity. When a board widens a boundary review after it has started, more families move into scope: a household that was outside the original study area can find its school assignment on the table.
The board's own timing is deliberately soft. It describes completion as "winter 2026" and implementation as possible "as early as September 2027," with multi-year phasing. Those qualifiers matter: a family reading this should treat the September 2027 date as the earliest possibility, not a commitment.
