The rebuild adds a new accessible pedestrian bridge with four elevators and four staircases connecting the platforms and the parking structure, along with platform and canopy work. It is part of GO Expansion, Metrolinx's program to run trains as often as every 15 minutes or better in peak periods on core segments.

Why it matters
Oakville GO sits at the centre of the town's biggest planning story. The four provincial Transit-Oriented Community sites in Midtown are justified by their walking distance to this station, and a Midtown built for tens of thousands of residents depends on a station that can move them. Rebuilding it for accessibility and higher frequency is the transit half of the Midtown bet.
Doing it without closing the station matters to today's riders. A staged rebuild means years of shifting platforms and temporary routing rather than a shutdown, which is easier to live with day to day but stretches the disruption over a longer period.
