History

Constructed by George Griggs, a Loyalist. Later purchased in 1847 by Bartholomew Beardsley, Chief Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of New Brunswick and passed to his son James J. Beardsley in 1855. Property consists of 50 acres and is usually referred to as “Beardsley’s Grove”.

Heritage attributes

Vernacular Loyalist architecture. Building has low ceilings supported by hand-hewn Ontario White Pine beams and exterior finish of stucco on lath walls. Some of the early glass window panes remain and all window sashes date back to 1832.
