History

The original property consisted of 50 acres, which was ceded to Thomas Pomray from the Crown in 1813. Mr. George Griggs, brother of Burnett Griggs, who was a New Jersey Loyalist and local innkeeper, purchased the property in 1821. The subject lands were sold to Alexander Robertson in 1866. He constructed the house in 1866-1867 called “the Grove”.
