Oakville Election 2026

How OakvilleIQ covers the election

The neutrality rules OakvilleIQ holds itself to for the 2026 election, in plain language.

No endorsements

OakvilleIQ does not endorse, recommend, rank or score candidates. We publish no “best candidate” conclusions, no popularity meters and no predictions. We present what is documented and let you decide.

Equal treatment

Every candidate in the same race is presented under the same structure, with the same fields and the same standards. We do not give one candidate more editorial text, a more prominent position or a more favourable treatment than another in the same race without a plain factual reason.

Candidate ordering

Within any race, candidates are listed in neutral, deterministic order: alphabetically by surname. Acclaimed candidates are shown under the same rule. Ordering carries no meaning.

Sources

We work from primary sources first: the Town of Oakville, Halton Region, the Province of Ontario and official school-board sources, then official candidate channels, then council and public records, with reputable journalism as supplementary evidence. We open and read the underlying source rather than relying on a search result, and we record where each fact came from and when we retrieved it.

Candidate positions

A candidate’s position appears only when a cited public source documents it, summarized faithfully with a link to the source. Candidate-provided biography and campaign claims are labelled as such and are never presented as independently verified fact.

Where no position is documented, we say exactly: No documented position found. We do not infer, guess or fill a position a candidate has not stated.

Candidate questionnaires

Every candidate for the same office receives the same invitation, the same questions, the same deadline and the same length limits, with equivalent presentation. Responses are published substantially as submitted, with only clearly-disclosed formatting. We do not summarize a response in a way that changes its meaning, and we keep the original text.

If a candidate does not respond, we state that factually — No response received as of [date] — and imply nothing from the absence of a response. The questionnaire for this election has not yet been sent; when it is, this page will say so.

Incumbents and public records

OakvilleIQ does not yet label incumbency or publish office-holder records such as recorded votes and motions. We will add that context only when it can be drawn from reliable official records and presented accurately and equally for every candidate — never as a score, a ranking or a “promises kept” percentage.

Corrections

If we get a fact wrong, we want to fix it. Tell us through the OakvilleIQ contact page, with the page and the correction. We keep the page’s URL, correct the fact and update the verification date.

Updates and verification

Election information changes. Each election page shows a “Last verified” date. Candidate rosters, acclamations and withdrawals are taken from the Town’s official certified-candidates list; voting logistics from the Town’s voter information.

Election administration

OakvilleIQ is not the election authority. The Town of Oakville runs the election, the voters’ list and voting locations. Always confirm official voting details with the Town of Oakville.
