Trafalgar Road narrows to one lane each way between Inglehart Street North and Cornwall Road until about December 2027
Halton Region is closing Trafalgar Road's two northbound lanes between Inglehart Street North and Cornwall Road for its next phase of wastewater work, leaving one lane each way until the project ends. Oakville Transit warns of Route 4 delays.
- The side-street closure on the same project: Inglehart Street North closure, October 27 to November 24.
The details
What changes on November 2
Starting Monday, November 2, 2026, the two northbound lanes of Trafalgar Road between Inglehart Street North and Cornwall Road will be restricted, Halton Region says, and traffic will continue to move through the area with "one lane open in each direction". The Region's October 30 notice says the restrictions are expected to stay in place until the project is complete, currently anticipated in December 2027, and the notice itself runs from November 2, 2026 to December 31, 2027. Keeping the restriction in place for the whole project, the notice says, reduces the need for repeated lane restrictions.
The closed lanes will hold a temporary staging compound and a launch shaft for a microtunnelling machine, which the Region says will install new wastewater pipes both north and south of Cornwall Road. Microtunnelling is a trenchless method: most of the work happens below ground instead of in a continuous open trench. Construction of the compound begins on November 2.

Transit and other work nearby
Oakville Transit says riders on Route 4 Speers-Cornwall may experience delays because of the lane restrictions, which it says are expected to remain until the project is completed, currently anticipated in December 2027. Its October 30 notice is titled as effective October 30; the Region gives November 2 as the start of the lane restriction. The Region says motorists should expect delays and use other routes where possible.
Other work in the area continues. Overnight lane restrictions and lane shifts in the Trafalgar Road and Cornwall Road area run from October 13 to December 18, 2026, now from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Inglehart Street North is closed to through traffic from October 27 to November 24, and the Region says short closures are now expected at both its Trafalgar and Cornwall ends, with one entrance kept open at all times. Exploratory work under way will decide whether the next phase of construction is north or south of Cornwall Road, the Region says, and its project page will be updated once that is confirmed.
