History

The Glassco House has cultural heritage value for its historical associations with the Glassco, Perdue and Tough families, all of whom contributed to their local community and played significant roles in Oakville’s early industries, organizations and schools. It was built by Ernest Glassco who owned a jam factory just west of the Basket Factory.

Heritage attributes

This c.1912 Craftsman bungalow is an early example of this style in Oakville. The 2 1/2 storey brick and shingle clad house has a symmetrical front façade, full-width veranda, a wide shed dormer and lead-paned windows, typical of the Craftsman style.
