History

Known as the William Busby Store. The lot was purchased in 1831 by William Uptegrave and a tavern was built. In 1884 William Busby purchased the lot and joined two old buildings together to create a long narrow structure. William and his family lived over the shop. William Busby served on the Board of Education for forty years and was a member of the Board of Trustees of St. John¿s Church. He was interested in beautifying Oakville and after his death Busby park was constructed in his honor.
