History

Lunau Block. The site was formerly occupied by Oakville’s 2nd post office for 47 years beginning in 1856 until the building was moved to a new foundation on Church Street in 1903. The property was then left vacant until 1921 when it was purchased and then built upon by E.P Lunau for his Lunau Dry Goods Store, which remained there until Lunau's retirement in 1945.

Heritage attributes

Commercial architectural style of the 1920's, based on the formal design of Italianate influence. Includes details in the masonry like the date stone with "Lunau Block 1922" and horizontal corbelled brick bands towards the top of the straight parapet.
