History

The western portion of this structure forms one of the oldest buildings in Oakville. The "Oakville Shop" or the "Oakville Establishment" was in operation in 1828 as a merchant's shop and ship chandlery. In 1891 it was enlarged and made into a house which was purchased by Capt. James Andrew, a yacht builder who constructed several boats which were winners of the Canada Cup.
