What is changing in Joshua Creek

Context

Joshua Creek in context

Joshua Creek is one of the newer complete communities in Oakville, built out through the 2000s and 2010s on the town's eastern edge and still adding blocks along Dundas Street East and Burnhamthorpe Road East. It has the profile that follows from that: young households, high enrolment pressure at build-out, and a school system that has had to keep adjusting.

That adjustment is now running in reverse. Joshua Creek Public School was crowded enough during construction that the board redirected students from a pocket of new housing near Dundas Street East and Prince Michael Drive to Falgarwood Public School instead. Enrolment projections have since fallen, portable requirements have eased, and in June 2026 trustees started a boundary review to bring that pocket back.

The development pipeline here is still active but late-stage: Mattamy phases on Burnhamthorpe Road East and around William Cutmore Boulevard, plus subdivision applications on Dundas Street East. It is the tail of a build-out rather than the start of one.

  3. Mattamy Bressa Phase 2 at 3008 William Cutmore Boulevard, and WP Development at 1005 Dundas Street East.
