History

Built in 1848 by George K. Chisholm, son of Oakville's founder William Chisholm. George was the first mayor of Oakville and MPP for Halton and held many other prominent positions. Part of the by-law was repealed in 1998 to allow for the town parking lot.

Heritage attributes

Ontario Regency Style Cottage with intricate treillage which wraps around most of the building. Other features include a low pitched roof, a distinctive chimney and a front door flanked by sidelights. One of the first 4 brick buildings in the Town.
